CAP Regulation Updates – For All Gambling Advertisers
We at Casino4U hope you guys at home are doing well! We have some Important news for everyone, mainly casino owners, as well as, affiliates that promote casinos. I hope everyone takes serious notice of these changes, as a result, being enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority. History has seen that fines for non-compliance can be severe.
Adverting in the Gambling market is governed by the Broadcasting and Non-Broadcasting Codes of Practice, BCAP and CAP respectively. The updated BCAP/CAP guidance on the protection of under-18’s took effect from 1 April 2019. As a result, the BCAP/CAP recognise the potential risks posed to children and young people by irresponsible gambling advertising. The guidance reaffirms and enhances the comprehensive protection provided by the current Industry Codes of Practice.
What This Means For Everyone
In summary, the use of certain cartoon-like characters and childhood themes are now prohibited, as well as the use of characters and actors that appear under the age of 25. Therefore, this means some major changes for some casinos.

From 1st April 2019, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), the body that enforces the Codes of Practice, will begin to consider complaints under the guidance. Therefore, it must be ensured that material used for Gambling Advertisements used on or after 1 April 2019 have due regard to the guidance in supporting compliance with the underlying advertising rules.
Please read the guidance for a full understanding of the new codes of practice and take the actions required to keep compliant. The ASA will hand out fines were needed for non-compliant material.
